Here is a sampling of works I’ve done over the past few years, in workshops, in my studio, or for the Playhouse at Vista Verde Retreat, my retreat center outside of Taos, New Mexico.

With these paintings my goal is to capture mystical spaces. I begin by creating the illusion that both space and light exist within the piece itself. Then I distort conventional perspective within the layers, thus inviting the viewer to enter into another world. A frequent motif, the square, serves as a screen upon which information is received. I call these works “Energyfieldscapes”, or “E-scapes” for short.

I create these paintings from the intuitive level, using color and line to establish space and light in each piece. While the basic composition of all of the work is relatively similar, each painting distinctively impacts the viewer as a function of his/her unique response to color.

Inspired by my desire to paint portraits, with these works my goal is to capture as much of the essence of the subject as possible. Using a photograph as my point of departure, I draw on my technical skills as well as my intuition in the hopes of offering a true image of a person’s inherent greatness.

Angels, fairies, muses and the like hold a special place throughout history. Embodied with aliveness and joy, these spirits romp and play in highly energetic environments of texture and color. I created these works to remind us to respect the significance of all beings, real or imaginary, in our lives.
